The launch of Maths del Sol – Professional Conference for Maths teaching in International Schools
Sotogrande International School in Spain is holding a professional development conference, Maths del Sol, on 15th and 16th February dedicated to fostering innovation in teaching and learning mathematics.
In addition to a series of workshops, expert and teacher-led presentations on a variety of tools, concepts and strategies in mathematics education, the conference will provide opportunities for teachers to connect, share strategies from their own schools, and use open space formats to build relationships and network.
The conference will take place in Sotogrande, Spain at the western end of Costa del Sol on February 15th and 16th, and feature five expert speakers covering topics including –
- Using space as a context for learning mathematics
- Real life mathematics
- Sixth form teaching using rich starting points
- Engaging maths lessons based around from how much maths can arise from mistakes
- Big maths – making maths more kinaesthetic, bring in questioning and open questions
- Wiki and blogs in the classroom
- EAL and language and maths
- Mathematical resilience
