Spring Garden Party in aid of Age Concern 27/05/10
Euroweekly News emailed me to let me know about this great event taking place in the Sohail Castle in Fuengirola on Thursday 27th May from 6-9pm. The tickets are just 15€ per person to include drinks and canapes and there will be lots going on including stalls, a raffle and a performance from X-Factor’s Rowetta.
The aim is to increase awareness of the British Consulate-Age Concern Project and the incredibly important work is does. It will also raise funds to provide training to over 60 volunteer caseworkers who provide essential help and services for elderly expatriates within the community. Age Concern is a great charity which is often overlooked, so I hope lots of people will attend.
Tickets can be purchased from Bookworld shops in Fuengirola, San Pedro and Puerto Banus. As this event has been organised by the British Consulate, they will ensure that all money received goes directly to Age Concern and the elderly they are striving to help.
I will definitely be going along, as I supported Age Concern in the UK. It always surprised me how little people wanted to support charities for the elderly, preferring to give to kids or animal charities. I’ve done lots of volunteer work with the elderly and it makes you realise just how much they need and appreciate help, even if it’s just taking them to the supermarket or having a cup of tea with them and keeping them company. I hope lots of people will attend and support this great cause!
