Specsavers’ survey reveals 29% of those asked found optical pricing confusing
Specsavers Opticas (the Spanish branch of Specsavers Opticians) released some really interesting statistics today from their survey conducted on the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca. It showed that 29% of the survey’s respondents found pricing confusing, but a staggering 62% of the vulnerable over 60s age group commented that the pricing was unclear.
This highlights the huge problem with transparency and clarity of pricing in the optical industry. Usually, frames, lenses and lens treatments are all priced separately, so you don’t know what the complete cost for your glasses will be until you reach the till. Specsavers has been against this kind of pricing for many years and all prices in store are for frames and Pentax single-vision lenses, so customers know exactly what they have to pay.
Following the results from the survey, Specsavers want to put pressure on Spanish opticians to change their pricing structures to offer all consumers clearly priced, great value glasses. Until this change is felt across the board, Specsavers will continue to lead the way and give the consumers the choice.
