The Shaw Marketing Services Story
Sergio Navacerrada from the website decipheringentrepreneurs.com interviewed the Founder and Marketing Director of Shaw Marketing Services to find out about the business, Georgina’s story, how she became an entrepreneur and how she overcomes difficulties and keeps up with trends in marketing. You can listen to the Podcast here, but we wanted to share some of the highlights.
- What is Shaw Marketing Services?
Shaw Marketing Services is a full service Marketing, Design and PR agency on the Costa del Sol, offering high quality, effective marketing solutions for companies looking to promote their services along the Costa del Sol. We can market in English and Spanish, online and offline.
- How do you reach out to potential customers? Who is your target?
We have always been very active in the networking scene, preferring to build our reputation that way than advertise. We run training courses, as a way to get in touch with new businesses and show our expertise. Our website also ranks very well and we are active on social media.
- Marketing, especially on-line, is evolving at a very fast pace. What do you do to keep your services ahead of competition?
We try to keep abreast of changes by keeping learning through reading articles and taking webinars and speaking to local experts. The marketing needs of companies here tend to be relatively simple, as the market is limited, but we are always keeping our eyes out for new techniques and ways to make our clients stand out from the crowd and new platforms to use.
- Give us a lousy moment and lessons learned.
Arriving in Spain just as everything crashed and being left without a job was very scary. However, I was lucky enough to have a very supportive partner who believed in me and helped me to set up the business and gave me the confidence to go it alone, so from the scare of being unemployed came a huge opportunity.
- What are your morning rituals or habits that help you keep your productivity?
I am very disciplined with my working hours, and a maniac with to do lists and those lists keep me on the straight and narrow.
I know that not all days are equal, so when I am feeling tired or distracted I get on with less challenging stuff and when I am on fire then I really crack through the tasks and tick all the things off my list happily.
- Imagine you have to relocate and start over with very limited resources. What first steps would you take?
I would set up a simple website and social media channels, get a simple business card and leaflet made and hit the networking groups, it worked for us once and can do again!
- Give us an internet resource or tool that you would like to share
We have been writing blog posts on all kinds of aspects of marketing over the last five years and have over 100 articles to enjoy on our blog here: https://www.shawmarketingservices.com/category/marketing-ideas-and-inspiration/
As I am such a fan of networking, I’d suggest you take a look at our short video about networking with our three top tips for being a great networker which you can see on our Youtube channel
