Salon Maher officially opens to the public with glamourous Champagne Open Evening
Shaw Marketing Services have been working with Salon Maher since May to develop a marketing plan and a PR campaign to raise awareness of this wonderful business. This included influencer outreach, press release production, event planning, invitations to the Town Hall and local businesses and influential members of the community. We also set up an official charity partnership with Collective Calling to support this great charity over the next three months.
We were proud to support them to create a very successful Champagne Open Evening on the 10th of July, where Remedios Bocanegra, Councillor for Foreign Residents at Marbella Town Hall, officially opened the salon. Shaw Marketing was on hand at the event to support the team, host the press and handle the arrival of the Town Hall and the official ribbon cutting.
Remedios Bocanegra cut the ribbon and congratulated the team for expanding their Dutch hairdressing brand to Marbella. She commented, “This is a wonderful place, in a perfect location, right in the heart of Marbella, and I’m convinced that everyone that passes by will want to come in due to the latest technology and cutting-edge techniques. We’re delighted that they have chosen Marbella, to benefit and form part of the international community. Maher’s years of professional experience in the Netherlands and Syria, dealing with clients from other countries and the many languages that the team speaks, will be a real advantage for the international residents and tourists coming to Marbella. On behalf of the Marbella Town Hall, I would like to congratulate them on their new business, I am sure it will be a real success, and we are here to offer them any help and support they need.”

Supporting Collective Calling
Gemma Carr from Collective Calling was present at the event to share information about their charity and update everyone on their work and discuss the partnership with Salon Maher. She commented, “Collective Calling was born to help Syrian refugees in Greece and so being here with Maher and hearing his story and seeing his success is very special. We now working to help the homeless and families in need here in Spain and we’re launching a new project to create a mobile shower unit which will offer hygiene services and personal care to the homeless between Malaga and La Linea. Collective Calling provide support, resources, and opportunities for homeless individuals in Spain and street children in Tanzania, empowering them to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty. Their mission is to provide comprehensive assistance, empowerment, and long-term solutions to individuals and communities affected by homelessness, poverty, and social exclusion.
Salon Maher will be partnering with this charity between the 10th of July and the 1st of October, having promotional materials, a collection tin and their charity candles available to purchase at the salon, to encourage awareness and donations. Collective Calling supporters are also encouraged to visit the salon during this 3-month period, quoting the charity code COLLECTIVE10. For everyone using this code, the Salon Maher will donate 10% to Collective Calling.
Marbella and Salon Maher, a match made in heaven
Maher and his family were searching for the perfect place to live and expand their business. Maher had visited Marbella ten years ago and his wife Mariya had always loved Spain, so they visited again in January 2023 to see if this could be the perfect place. From the first moment, they knew that it was a match made in heaven and felt in their heart and soul that this was the place for them.
Maher comments, “We could see a lot of opportunities for our business in Marbella, as an internationally recognised brand, which is going from strength to strength and which attracts tourists all year round and has a strong international community. We wanted to be part of the growth and development of this great place and didn’t think twice about taking the jump to move here and open our business. Marbella for us is a true mix of perfect climate, stunning surroundings, international community, friendly people and a great atmosphere and we’re already feeling at home!”
As well as looking after the local resident community and tourists, he wants to bring people from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany to Marbella too. Loyal customers from Northern Europe will be invited for pampering and wellness breaks and they are setting up collaborations with other local businesses to generate new revenue streams to benefit the community.
