“PRESCRIPTION FOR MURDER”

“PRESCRIPTION FOR MURDER”

One of the things I miss about London is the theatre, so I was interested to see that one of the local amateur dramatics groups “The International Theatre Studio” is putting on a performance of Prescription for Murder.   I have no idea whether it will be any good, but it sounds like an interesting plot. Their press release says “If you enjoy traditional thrillers, come and see this sinister play in café-theatre style with your drinks beside you in the discoteca.  It’ll be a good evening out.”

It is being performed at The Atalaya Park Hotel discoteca on Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 November. Tickets are obtainable at Guadalmina Bookshop, Glitterati (Diana Centro), Longman’s Bookshop  (Estepona) and The English Bookshop (Sabinillas); or can be reserved by calling the Box Office (952 880630) or, evenings/weekends, 952 928196.

Here’s a little summary:

Barbara is delighted to have married Devon-based doctor Richard Forth. She knows he was married before and that the lady concerned died in unusual circumstances but she’s not too worried about that. But why is Barbara, fit as fiddle all her life, now frequently feeling ill ?  And why does she suddenly start to have doubts when a stranger calls and seeks to rake up Richard’s past ?  And what about their elegant widowed neighbour, Julia ?  She and Richard have known each other a long time and seem awfully cosy together.

From the start a sinister aura pervades Norman Robbins’ thriller “Prescription for Murder” and the plot, as they say, thickens as innuendoes abound and suspicion builds before the highly unexpected dénouement explains all.
