Plant a tree in the people’s forest this Saturday
This Saturday, environmental charity Arboretum are looking for 100 people to come to Finca El Trapiche, 29602 Marbella from 10am until 1pm. This is part of their project to create a people’s forest behind the bus station in Marbella on deserted scrub land. This is a fantastic way of restoring the lost woodlands of the area, and conserving the native species of trees and plants in Andalucía, while creating a lovely public green area for local residents. To reach their goal they need your help!
Alejandro Orioli, founder of Arboretum tells us more about the event, “We need 100 people from the local community to get involved and help plant 1000 trees in just one morning. The event has been designed so people of all ages can join in. If you are unable to lend a hand this weekend, we would really appreciate your support on Twitter (@ ArboretumMrblla) or Facebook (Arboretum Marbella). All you need to do is re-tweet our posts about the campaign, or tweet messages about the project using key words #100personas1000arboles.”
Shaw Marketing Services have signed an agreement with the charity to support them with publicising this important project to the foreign residents of the Costa del Sol and so we hope as many people as possible will get involved. Saturday’s event will be a great way to get to learn about the project, play an important role in the creation of this forest and meet people from the local area who care about the environment and their community.
If you want to attend, please let the organisers know by clicking join on the 100 personas 1000 arboles Facebook page. To find it, head up the hill from the bus station towards the hotel Don Miguel, take first turning off the third roundabout and it’s at the end of that road. Here’s the link to the Google Map we’ve created http://g.co/maps/g7xmj. Hope to see you there!
