Lita Cabellut’s “Retratos” Exhibition
Lita Cabellut is one of the most talked about artists of the moment, returning to her native Spain this year to exhibit for the first time in Barcelona. She has been exhibiting around the World, to much critical acclaim and commercial success, with her bold theatrical style and arresting images and almost sold out her Coco Chanel show in Paris before opening.
The Red Penguin Gallery in Marbella has been given exclusive rights to display her exhibition “Retratos” in Spain, a museum quality exhibition of striking portraits of strong yet conflicted individuals such as Lorca, Frida Kahlo, Coco Chanel and Billy Holiday until June 20th.
These powerful pieces have a highly theatrical appearance, using a mix of techniques and textures to convey emotion and struggle, drawing the viewer in. These well known figures are placed beside beautiful veiled women with just their eyes peeking from colourful Hijabs, inviting the viewer to uncover what lies behind a woman’s external beauty.
The exhibition is on until 20th June from Monday to Saturday 10.00-21.00 and it is free to visit and enjoy. On 14th & 15th June, the Red Penguin Gallery will be sharing their knowledge and passion about these stunning works of art with free guided visits of the exhibition at 12.00, 14.00, 17.00 and 19.00. Visitors are invited to learn more about this fascinating artist, her inspiration, subject matter and techniques from these art experts.

About Lita Cabellut
Lita grew up on the streets of Barcelona in a poor gypsy community, finally being adopted when she was twelve and being introduced to the magical world of art.
Her ascension to greatness was rapid and she had her first exhibition at just 17 years old, later moving to Holland to study and develop her prestigious talent. Her collection of 55 paintings of Coco Chanel was the breakthrough for Lita, being exhibited in Paris in 2011 and selling the majority of the pieces before the exhibition even opened. Since then she has exhibited around the world, returning to Spain for the first time this year with “Trilogía de la duda” in Barcelona and “Retratos” in Marbella. “Trilogía de la duda” is being displayed in the museum at Barcelona’s Villa Casas until July 21st and on June 7th and 8th the Red Penguin Gallery is arranging a visit to the city to enjoy this landmark exhibition.
