Georgina recommends …. Trocadero Playa
We’re always being asked on forums and by friends about things to do and places to go in and around Marbella and end up boring people for hours about bars and restaurants that they should go to. I know people like our recommendations, but it’s difficult to remember them when you’re out and about.
For this reason, I’ve decided to start a new feature on this blog with featured bars and restaurants we love. If you have any recommendations please tell us, as we always like to try out new places!
For my first recommendation, I’d like to suggest our favourite beach front restaurant in Marbella – Trocadero Playa. This is a very refined place which serves excellent food, with nice tables and chairs, actually on the sand. It’s closed in and shaded with fabric, giving it a Moroccan feel. They leave the sides open when it’s warm and then close it off when it gets colder. It’s open all year round, but I think it’s best to visit whilst the weather is still good – so you may not have long!
This is the place we go when we want to spoil ourselves with great food in a special, yet relaxed environment. It’s quite expensive, but not bank breaking, at around 50€ per head for two courses and wine. We took some friends down there for Andy’s birthday this year and even the very picky ones were impressed so I feel comfortable recommending it!
It’s open for lunch and dinner and is busy all year round with a wealthy but not overly flashy international crowd. There’s a bar area with sofas, some loungers out front and then the main restaurant and it stays open late. Make sure you book if you are going on a Sunday for lunch, it’s seriously popular spot for their black rice and also their delicious sea bass baked in salt, that’s my favourite choice when I go there. The food is Mediterranean, and I haven’t had a bad dish in there. The wine list is also excellent. Leave some room for their chocolate fondant desert – it’s delicious!
