Feed a family in need this Christmas
Specsavers Opticas in Fuengirola is collaborating with Bancosol for the charity’s food collection campaign until January 7th to support the most disadvantaged families in our community.
The Costa del Sol’s Food Bank is Bancosol, a non-profit organisation founded in 1998. Since then they have been growing and changing to adapt to the ever-increasing number of people who need their support and to provide as much as they possibly can. In 2017 they distributed 6.5 million kilos of food to almost 45,000 disadvantaged people in the Malaga province. They are helping almost double the amount of people that they did at the beginning of the financial crisis but their “Gran Recogida” only collected 10% of the total they distribute through the year. Therefore, they need people to continue to support them throughout 2018 and into the New Year.
Specsavers Opticas in Fuengirola is getting behind Bancosol as their chosen Christmas charity campaign. They are asking local residents to help the most disadvantaged people in their community by making a small food donation over the festive period.
Throughout December and the Christmas period, anyone can drop off their food at Specsavers Opticas Fuengirola during opening hours. It is located near the bus station on Avenida Ramon y Cajal 6, Fuengirola.
On the 8th of January, the donations will be handed over to Bancosol Food Bank, for them to distribute in the community via partnerships with local charitable organisations. Bancosol are particularly in need of oil, milk and meals in a can such as soups and stews, although any donation is of course welcome.
