Eva Recommends… Santorini, Benavista
I have been to this restaurant a few times now and each time is just as good as the last if not better. It seems every time I try something new off the menu, I am very impressed all over again. It’s clear the owners have a great long term vision for the place and are not letting the quiet winter and recession lower their standards for a second. This restaurant is great for a quick bite to eat or a 3-course meal and offers a great range of food plus a children’s menu. Did I mention they have a fantastic take away menu?
Location
Located just off the main road (N340) in the gastronomic town of Benavista between San Pedro and Estepona, this restaurant is very easy to get to and has plenty of outside parking. Seating around 30 people outside and 60 people inside, Santorini is comfortable for large or small groups and caters for various types of parties at the restaurant or in your own home.
The food
This is one of those restaurants that really offer something for everyone. Whether it’s a succulent steak, Italian style pasta, perfectly cooked fish, or delicious home-made pizza, this mouth-watering menu uses only high quality ingredients and it shows. They offer a great range of starters from home-made soups to chicken wings and fried squid. I went for the Pil Pil prawn in sausage and garlic oil which were very tasty indeed! The main courses are of generous size and everything is superbly cooked to your taste. I chose the chicken breast in napolitana sauce for the main course, which I definitely recommend. The meat is juicy and the napolitana sauce is just incredible, it must be tried to be believed! For dessert I chose the tiramisu. Home-made with the finest ingredients and expertly put together, this is possibly the best tiramisu I have tasted yet. I even had to order one just to take home for later!
The Service
Every time we eat at this restaurant the service has always been excellent. The staff are all very polite and go the extra mile to ensure you have a lovely meal. Despite the whole area being somewhat quiet at the moment, this restaurant is keeping its standards high every night of the week whether they have two guests or 20 which is good to know. They had everything available on the menu which was a great start and makes a change from other restaurants during quiet times. The food and drink service was impeccable and the owner of the restaurant is always on hand to make sure everything is running smoothly.
Decor and Atmosphere
The atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly and as always we were greeted at the door with a smile. The low music set a relaxing tone inside and you could tell great care had gone into preparing the restaurant and setting the tables with everything clean and in its place. There are tables outside the front of the restaurant which are lovely for warm summer evenings and the inside is decorated and presented very well.
The price
One thing that keeps drawing us back to this restaurant apart from the fab food and service is the price. You can opt for the ‘meal deal’ option and choose from a choice of four appetising starters, four tasty main courses and three desserts to create your meal for just €14.95 per person. This is amazing value for money and the choices you have with this meal deal include mains of steak, sea bass, pizza or chicken in a variety of sauces. To have a 3-course meal with such high quality food and service at under €15 is unbelievably worth it. Other meal deals are available with different starters, mains and desserts to choose from – all for under €19!
