Charitable Summer Festivities at Arboretum Marbella
On Sunday 21st June hundreds of people visited Arboretum Marbella’s Urban Allotments to celebrate the start of summer and learn about this amazing project with a special fun day.
Visitors were able to buy plants, clothes, jewellery, organic fruit, vegetables and cheeses and even artisan pizzas from local producers. There were also kids’ activities, face painting and arts and crafts from three Marbella nurseries. Big thanks to Wendy’s for the treasure hunt, and Escuela Infantil Santa Esmeralda and Escuela Infantil Coleta for all the great activities, we loved making the ladybird house and the maracas!
The money raised will be used to continue Arboretum’s environmental education programme and further develop this important local charity, including their new project to add a further 90 allotments which will be allocated to families and retirees. The Directors of the charity are encouraging people to get involved and help them achieve their goals by becoming a volunteer, giving a monthly donation or being a corporate supporter.
They also announced two further events taking place in autumn 2015 – the Autumn Fair on Sunday 20th September and their highly regarded Permaculture Design Course from 9th to 22th October. This is an intensive 14 day course in English and Spanish given by top trainers from the UK, Spain and Europe, which results in an internationally recognised qualification.
