What’s On in Manilva May 2015
There’s loads going on this month in Manilva, but often you don’t know about it until the last minute, so we’ve been doing some digging and here are the highlights. Let me know if we’ve missed anything out by commenting on the post.
Friday 8th May from 20.00 – Compromiso Manilva presents the list for the next municipal elections at Duquesa Golf Club and there will be drinks and nibbles for attendees. There is a bus to transport people to the golf club which will pick up in Manilva in front of the Wine Centre at 19:30 and in Sabinillas at the Bernardo Muñoz bus stop at 19:45. RSVP on Facebook
Sunday 10th May from 10.00 – International 7-a-side football tournament with 10 teams representing a wide range of countries (including Spain, England, Brazil, Morocco and more) playing from 10am-3pm at the Manilva Football Pitch. As part of this event there will be a Zumba Masterclass at the Sports Pavillion at 11.00 (there’s a 5€ charge for this event), Capoeira display, kids’ activities and a bouncy castle so all the family will be entertained. Go along and support your team! Players and supporters can enjoy a free BBQ and drinks at 15.00.
Thursday 14th May from 16.00 – “Rock the Vote” including Kids’ Activities from 16.00-18.00 and a special concert with performances from Adele and Madonna tribute acts from 18.00-22.00 in the Plaza Rambla del Mediterraneo in front of the Leisure Lounge in Puerto de la Duquesa. Organized by Compromiso Manilva.
Friday 15th May-Sunday 17th May – Padel Tournament at the new sports centre in Sabinillas (Cuidad Deportiva). Registration for the tournament is now open, it costs 15€ to take part including T-shirt & water. Call 658 776 999 to find out more and register.
Saturday 16th May – There are two activities taking place on this day
10.00-15.00 – Spring Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition at Manilva Sports Centre (Pabellón Municipal de Las Viñas de Manilva), with gymnasts competing from around the Costa del Sol. Spectators welcome. More details
12.00-20.00 – International Family Day event in the square with the statue in Castillo de la Duquesa with live music, performances from the municipal dance schools and entertainment for the kids.
Monday 18th May 09.30-10.30 – Coffee Morning with the Foreign Residents’ Department of the Town Hall discussing summer activities for the kids, education and late applications for schools. Valentina Radu is inviting parents in Manilva and Sabinillas for a free coffee and a chat after they drop the kids at school. She will be bringing all the information and forms to apply for the sports camps, summer schools and swimming lessons and offer help filling them in, as well as support with school applications and listening to concerns and issues with education. It will be held at the Usos Multiples building in Sabinillas, opposite Mil Colores and the newspaper shop. Register on Facebook or email manilva@shawmarketingservices.com
Wednesday 20th May 18.30-20.00 – Manilva Business Networking CIVIMA (Manilva Pueblo Wine Museum) make new contacts, attract new clients and build long term positive relationships with fellow businesses on the Western Costa del Sol at this monthly networking meeting. Thursday 21st May 11.30 – Financial Advice Seminar from Blacktower Financial Management to help you make sure you’re doing the right thing at CIVIMA (Manilva Wine Museum). Topics include – Declaring assists across the EU, changes to Spanish taxes, changes to UK pensions and wills. The talk is free of charge, but attendees are asked to reserve their place by calling 952 816 443 or emailing melanie.godfrey@blacktowerfm.com Free tapas and drinks will be provided.
Sunday 24th May from 09.00-20.00 – Manilva Local elections. If you are registered to vote then go down to your local polling station (Manilva Sports Pavillion, San Luis de Sabinillas school, or the castle in Castillo de Duquesa) to cast your vote during the day. Check in the Town Hall if you’re not sure if you’re registered or need to know which polling station to go to.
