Batumi Delegation – Natalia Stuart- Fox, Irina Tsertsvadze, Loni Olfers, Natia Surguladze and Gladys Osterwald.

After all the preparation and planning Marbella’s International Art Festival is finally here, the delegation from Georgia have arrived and the inauguration takes place tonight.

There will be a strong Georgian influence at this year’s festival thanks to the hard work of Natalie Stuart Fox and the collaboration with Batumi Art Festival. There are seven artists and one gallery from the Black Sea countries and performers from Georgia, plus a Delegation from the Town Hall and business associations from Batumi, the cultural capital of the Black Sea Coast.

Arte Marbella’s President Caroline Bowley commented; “This year, our festival is welcoming Georgian artists and honoured by the presence of Mayor and Vice Mayor of Batumi, cultural capital of the Black Sea Coast. This continues the strong relationship between Marbella and Batumi which has been built through art and offers many opportunities for cross promotion and a new source of tourism and revenue for the town.

Entertainment at Arte Marbella

JULI ANN HUNTER 7041718The lovely Emma Jones has put together an amazing schedule of entertainment for the Marbella Art Festival every evening from 6pm which I am really looking forward to. The theme is classical and jazz and there’s a really good mix of acts performing in the Parque de la Alameda which are free to enjoy.

Highlights include singing sensation Anna Sargeant and pianist Heather Bellene and Helena Paul and her jazz trio who are performing at the inauguration on 20th June. Anna will also be singing with Irene Delro on Sunday 23rd June from 7.30pm to close the festival. The beautiful soprano Julie-Anne Hunter (pictured here) will also be filling the park with song.

Please note that you can get a coveted place at the inauguration by making a donation and becoming a Friend of the Festival, but places are limited, so don’t delay in making your donation.

Here’s the full schedule, come on down and listen and don’t forget to stop by the tent to enjoy the great art too.

Countdown to the Marbella Art Festival

Festival at night press release imageYesterday was the press conference for the International Art Festival of Marbella which is opening on Thursday and will be open for the public from Friday at 4.30. This is going to be an amazing event featuring over 60 artists lining Marbella’s Avenida del Mar plus an amazing programme of entertainment. At the press conference the Councillor for Tourism Jose Luis Hernandez confirmed the Town Hall’s belief in the festival as highly important for the promotion of Marbella as a cultural destination and its ability to bring together so many nationalities.

President Caroline Bowley commented, “Arte Marbella brings visitors from all around the world to Marbella and promotes the town as a cultural destination, broadening its appeal. It allows people of all ages, nationalities and interests to experience art outside the gallery and makes it affordable for people to buy. We believe that bringing art to the people is a really important responsibility and so many people get to experience these works who would not visit a gallery.

Arte Marbella Need Help to Save Festival

keeping_an_eye_on_the_artsNext week (20-23 June) Marbella’s International Art Festival is planned to take place in the centre of Marbella, but due to a lack of sponsorship they are facing a funding shortfall and have put out the plea below for supporters, donations and sponsors. Please pass this on through the magic of social media and help to save this important cultural event.

Dear supporters of the festival,

As you are probably aware the Internaciónal Festival de Arte Marbella is taking place from 20th to 23rd June in the Avenida del Mar and Parque de la Alameda Marbella and we have over 60 artists coming to display their works, plus a packed programme of entertainment.

This is a hugely important cultural event for Marbella and something which is done by a committee of volunteers for no profit. However this year we have not been able to get any sponsors and without your help the festival is at risk.

If you believe that it is important to represent Marbella as a cultural centre and want to be able to enjoy great art outside of a gallery, please become a friend of the festival.

We are looking for donations of 50€ to become a friend of the festival and receive the following –
