Salon Maher launches charity partnership with Collective Calling
At the official opening of Salon Maher on the 10th of July 2024 the team announced that they would be supporting the charity Collective Calling over the next three months.
Collective Calling provide support, resources, and opportunities for homeless individuals in Spain and street children in Tanzania, empowering them to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty. Their mission is to provide comprehensive assistance, empowerment, and long-term solutions to individuals and communities affected by homelessness, poverty, and social exclusion.
Salon Maher is partnering with this charity between the 10th of July and the 1st of October, having promotional materials, a collection tin and their charity candles available to purchase at the salon, to encourage awareness and donations. Collective Calling supporters are also encouraged to visit the salon during this 3-month period, quoting the charity code COLLECTIVE10. For everyone using this code, the Salon Maher will donate 10% to Collective Calling.
The link between the charity and the salon is strong, as was revealed at the opening. Both the charity and Maher have their roots in Syria and have experienced the refugee crisis first hand.
Maher Mansour reached the highest levels in hairdressing in Syria, with a celebrity following and an epic reputation. He had two salons, a team of 20, appeared on TV, in magazines and was a hairdresser to the stars. Unfortunately, he had to flee the war in 2013, leaving his salons behind, and arriving in the Netherlands as a refugee, with nothing but his experience, talent and a desire to work.
Within eight months he had started his own business, opening a small salon in Utrecht, expanding to a larger premises and opening a second salon in under two years. He’s trained a loyal team of male hairdressers, bringing many of his team from Damascus with him, to care for the hair of women all over the Netherlands and has now expanded to Marbella.
Gemma Carr from Collective Calling commented, “Collective Calling was born to help Syrian refugees in Greece and so being here with Maher and hearing his story and seeing his success is very special.
We now working to help the homeless and families in need here in Spain and we’re launching a new project to create a mobile shower unit which will offer hygiene services and personal care to the homeless between Malaga and La Linea.
Please do mention Collective Calling when you book your appointment at Salon Maher and you can have a wonderful hair treatment and contribute to a good cause”.
