Georgina Recommends – Purobeach Marbella
Last weekend we celebrated (UK) Father’s Day with a wonderful day at Purobeach club in Laguna Village. This stunning spot, right on the beach between Estepona and Marbella, is centred around an enormous bright blue pool and is a chic, stylish, luxurious place to spend a special day. We were blown away by the cool, but grown-up atmosphere and exceptional service and here’s our run down of our experience.
The Location – Located in Laguna Village shopping centre, right by the Kempinski Hotel Bahia, it’s five minutes by car from Estepona and around 15 minutes from Marbella. There’s plenty of parking outside and down by the beach and it’s just off the motorway, so it’s very easy to get there.
The Décor/Atmosphere – You’re immediately impressed by the sleek white and chic earth tones and the bright blue of the enormous swimming pool, which is so inviting, you just want to dive in. The atmosphere is luxurious but not bling, cool tunes play in the background, and you’re surrounded by a nice class of people relaxing and enjoying themselves. You are looked after the moment you walk in and it feels very special to be part of the Purobeach experience.
The Food – As you settle down on your bed, you are brought chilled water and fresh fruit, which is a lovely start to the day. You can enjoy breakfast, or lunch on your sun lounger or in one of the two restaurant areas.
We headed down to the chic beachside chiringuito and enjoyed a delicious lunch in a stunning setting. The food was very interesting and inviting, with a delicious fusion style including oriental and Mediterranean favourites. We shared sticky chicken wings to start, then I chose fish tacos with fried John Dory, avocado, chipotle mayo and lots of zingy flavours and good textures. This was served with super crunchy yucca chips, which were a hit with the whole family.
Andy chose an amazing seabass dish with lime, soy, chilli and ginger in an incredible broth and accompanied by Thai rice, which was a real crowd pleaser. Lucas loved the chicken escalope with fries, which he thought was the best and biggest chicken nugget ever! This is really delicious food, in a wonderful setting – highly recommended.
The Service – Wow, wow, wow, is all I can say about the service, it really was first rate. This is an operation run with military precision, lots of care and very high standards being handed down from the top. You are looked after from the moment you arrive, with fresh fruit and chilled water delivered to the bed and always someone looking out to take your order. A bottle of Moet and Chandon is included with the Balinese bed, which is served with strawberries, so you feel really pampered.
Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are friendly, welcoming and approachable, always on hand when you need them. I think it’s some of the best service I have experienced on the Costa del Sol – great job!
The Price – This is a 5* luxury experience and the price reflects the excellent service and experience. Prices for beach sun beds start from 25€ and the Balinese bed including a bottle of Moet starts from 120€. A Caesar Salad is 20€, a burger is 23€, the Thai curry is 21€ and the Nasi Goreng is 23€ and house wine is 24€ for a bottle, the kids menu is 20€.
We loved our day and will be back very soon, this will be our new favourite choice for birthdays and special occasions. To book your beach bed or table visit the Purobeach Marbella website or follow them on Facebook
