Family activities at Marbella 4Days Walking
As part of the annual Marbella 4Days Walking event, on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October, children from 4-12 years old and their families are invited to participate in two, 6km routes around Marbella.
Starting at between 11.30 and 12 each day, young walkers and their families will leave Las Terrazas del Puerto Deportivo, in the centre of Marbella. On Day 1 the route will take them along the beautiful Paseo Maritimo and up via the Marbella Club Hotel, along Ricardo Soriano and down to rejoin the paseo back to the Puerto Deportivo. On Day 2 the route will take participants along the paseo to the fishing port and into Marbella, walking through the Parque del la Represa to the top of Marbella and then back down to the paseo again.
All children will receive a Marbella 4Days Walking rucksack with water and snacks, sponsored by Formato2Design and Escuela Infantil Coleta, after they have completed the event there will be fun family activities to enjoy above the leisure port, right by the playground. Participants can register to take part in the family event on the website for a cost of 2.50€ per child and adults walk for free.
This is an excellent challenge for all the family, a great way to explore less well-known parts of Marbella, get fit and meet new people. Organizers suggest getting ready for the event by walking regularly and building up the distance that you walk each week, so everyone is prepared for the distance. This is a great way to integrate more exercise into children’s lives and develop a lifelong love of walking. They would love to welcome groups from nurseries and schools and offer special group discounts for 10 or more walkers and adults supervising groups of more than 10 children.
To inspire more children to get active, the organizers have invited 300 children from Marbella’s school CEIP Xarblanca to walk a 6km route on 8th October accompanied by teachers and parents. “This year we’re celebrating our 5th anniversary and we wanted to do something special”, explained organizer Hans Wohl. “We are collaborating with Xarblanca School to offer their students a free place on a special 6km route and allowing them to experience the event, exercise and explore Marbella. The teachers will be supporting this activity in the classroom with educational activities and believe it will be highly beneficial for their students and we hope that this pilot scheme can be the start of a roll out of a bigger project with schools next year.”
