Staying Healthy on Your Summer Holiday in Marbella
Well, summer is finally here and we’re enjoying the hot days and warm evenings on the terrace again and getting ready for our holidays. Most people work really hard to get that bikini body, but then let it all go when they’re actually away.
So I asked our resident health & fitness expert Anita Chaperon of website FitHappyHealthy to give us her top 5 tips for staying healthy on holiday so we don’t undo all our hard work when we’re away.
1. Keep drinking your water
This is easy. Just keep a bottle with you everywhere you go. And even if you’re drinking alcohol more than usual, you can still alternate your drinks with water, to soften the effect. Water will keep you hydrated in the heat, plus it will keep your body functioning properly even if your food choices are less than optimal.
2. Go for green
And red, and yellow… In other words, if you can order a salad, or a desert with fresh fruit in it – do that. Choose colourful foods.
It’s likely that you’ll eat out a lot when you’re on holiday. And that’s ok. Spain has such great variety of dishes you’ll never be stuck for choice.
Another option is to find the local market and as well as enjoying the goodies on show, to stock up on some fruit for snacks while sight seeing. BTW, Marbella has some great markets on almost each day of the week. They are in different locations around the coast – so you can build in some sight seeing while you’re at it.
3. Take walks on the beach
Marbella’s beaches are some of the best in Spain. They stretch for miles. Plus they have so many local chirringuitos (beach restaurants) – you’ll love taking a long walk and stopping for lunch or coffee at some of them.
Taking a walk, of course, will give you a little bit of a workout. And as we said before – a little is better than none.
4. Dance the night away
Yes – dancing is IN. Take in plenty of water and enjoy yourself. The benefits are endless here, especially if the alcohol doesn’t keep flowing all night.
Clubs in Marbella only get going at about 1-2 am so you’ll need to get plenty of my last suggestion to really enjoy yourself…
5. Don’t forget your sleep
Sleep is the most reparative state your body can be in. So don’t forget to top up every day. You should aim to get 7-8 hours of it, regardless of how many things you need to experience in Marbella.
In fact, since it is your holiday – you should make this point a priority.
Well, I hope this helps you keep your holiday in Marbella healthy and still enjoyable.
The 5 tips don’t require much effort. In fact you could easily build them into your activities, and even make them into a bit of a game. For more health and fitness tips you can visit my website FitHappyHealthy
