Chowka Indian gastro tapas restaurant opens on Marbella’s Golden Mile
A new concept launching at the end of March in Marbella, Chowka will be serving beautifully crafted and conceived Indian food presented as tapas to be enjoyed and shared in convivial Spanish style.
At the heart of Chowka is Ravi Deulkar, an exciting young chef from London and prominent figure in the Modern Indian Food Movement, who aims to offer a fresh contemporary interpretation of Indian classics.
“The diversity and breadth of Indian cuisine provides us with a rich palette from which to work,” says the chef who puts a great deal of emphasis on creating dishes that are innovative, healthy, beautifully presented and of course – a taste sensation.
On the Golden Mile
Chowka will open on the former premises of The Polo House, replacing it with a fresh modern ambience in a prime location on the Golden Mile.
“We are sad to say goodbye to The Polo House and our partnership with James Hewitt,” says restaurateur Sunil Ram, “We had four great years and who knows, we might yet work together again.”
Modern Indian Food
In the spirit of the traditional Mother’s Kitchen, after which it is named, Chowka’s cuisine is designed around the Sigri (charcoal grill), Kadai (fryer), Tandoor (clay oven) and the traditional naked flame.
Built upon seasonal produce to create his evolving range of dishes, the former head chef of London-based Michelin Star restaurants Rasoi and Trishna prepares light healthy food to order. Ravi Deulkar’s challenge is to take classic Indian cuisine to new heights of creativity, preparation and presentation – all within a stylish modern tapas ambience where value and quality come together in one place – Chowka.
